One Entrepreneur On Marketing: Elinor Stutz

This is part of a series called "The Entrepreneurs on Marketing."  This interview is with Elinor Stutz.

Regarding your approach to marketing, push or pull?

I was a top producer in corporate sales but always used Relationship Building and Selling (see my book title below). As an entrepreneur I took it a step further to use Attraction Selling through social media, and my style has been dubbed "Heart-based Selling".

What do you think about branding?

My definition of branding is consistency through words, actions and deeds. By building relationships everywhere, people will come to know and trust you, credibility is built and sales the come forth - making for a Smooth Sale!

How important is your personality to your brand?

In corporate sales, I quickly learned "people buy you" so your authentic personality must come through in everything you do or trust and credibility diminish as will your business. My unique style is to use humor - I love getting people to laugh as it removes any sign of tension and then we have a relaxed conversation.

What are your top three ways to promote your business?

Speaking (in-person and webinars); Books and Social Media.

What have been your keys to success when it comes to growing your online audience?

The #1 strategy is to give away free helpful advice on Twitter; next establish a group on Facebook and offer helpful advice to members; Collaborate to help grow one another's groups and events; Answer questions of group members on Linkedin; hosting the "Smooth Sale Success Show" - internet radio.

Any final thoughts on marketing a business?

Being in business means a lifetime commitment to education - keep up to date on what is new on all fronts; in particular social media continually changes and put the world at your fingertips - literally!
